Amateur Herpetologist



Alec has found two snakes in our yard this month - both friendly and harmless.
Above is a glass snake Alec discovered after an evening bike ride (gotta love those sweaty pink cheeks). Technically the snake is a legless lizard - see link here and here.
Below is a juvenile ringneck snake - one of our favorite species.

We have a glass snake at our zoo. Very cool! Turtle stones are conglomerate rocks that look like petrified turtles. I can't seem to find any good info online about them, but they have the octagon markings of a turtle on the top, and they are round and shaped just like a turtle. They are very hard to find, but fun like a treasure hunt and exciting when you do find one!
