WALKERS CAY, BAHAMAS

This Bahamian Island is 120 miles from our Florida shore.
Sadly it was demolished by
Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in 2004.


















We miss the island that was...

Walkers Cay has been part of "my world" for a long time.

I'm really sorry to hear it's no longer open for business. We had a great time there and I always thought that someday I'd go back for the diving with the sharks.

I didn't realize those storms did such damage. Interesting photos ... I'm just across the Gulf Stream in Florida, but on the other side of the peninsula in Naples. I work in the Everglades (Big Cypress National Preserve).

I never knew people actually went to islands to go diving with sharks (re:Wren's comment)YIKES!
It does look so pretty. I imagine restoring it would bring work for people too.
